Attempting to avoid a real job has created years of hard work for Jon Terry. He's not complaining. Any job that lets you laugh so much can't be all bad, heck overtime can be an entertaining bonus!
A refugee from several front office jobs in many different sports, Jon quickly learned that selling tickets is enhanced best when it is sold as entertainment. Sport purists will always be there, but no team can exist on their small numbers alone.
SRO Productions began booking sport entertainment acts in 1994, starting with Myron Noodleman. Acts were added to form a roster of talent that includes some of the most successful acts in the business today. Along the way, it has been Jon's pleasure to have worked with such icons as Morganna "The Kissing Bandit" and, even after his retirement, Max Patkin, the Clown Prince of Baseball, briefly before his death.
Jon has immersed himself with learning everything possible about the history of entertainment acts and sports. Books by Bill Veeck, Max Patkin (3rd Clown Prince of Baseball) and Al Schacht (2nd Clown Prince) helped gain much in-sight. Interviews with former members of the Negro Baseball League brought in a wealth of fascinating discovery. A link titled "Hall of Fame" will be dedicated on this website to listing and archiving the acts that made this industry an important part of the marketing of sports. It is an on-going effort that readers are encouraged to provide any stories, photos or video that will fill in the sometimes sketchy history.
Jon Terry was featured in the August 15, 2005 Sports Illustrated article titled "Down on the Funny Farm" by Bill Syken. The Tulsa World newspaper also wrote about Jon in a April 15, 2006 article titled "Novelty for Hire" by Jimmie Tramel.
A 1973 graduate of Oklahoma State University, Jon majored in Marketing. After a few years of trying to work “by the book” Jon discovered that majoring in FUN is far more rewarding.
